When did you decide to start writing?
My grandma said that at the age of two, my free time was spent copying words from books onto paper. Wow…I must have been a REALLY strange child. haha I really only started writing only a few years ago. I’ve always loved reading, and decided I needed to write my own adventures.

Is there a specific genre you tend to stick by?
Right now my genre is YA Paranormal. It’s what I’m good at, and what I’m comfortable with. I think I’ll be here for a while.

Are you published? If so, what have you published so far?
My debut book was self-published, and is called, In My Dreams. My second novel, Hidden Wings, will be published through Crushing Hearts and Black Butterfly on January 18, 2013. Whoo-hoo! I can’t wait to share it!!!

Is/Are there any current project(s) that you could tell me about?
I have quite a bit on the back burner. Right now I am completing the 2nd book in the Hidden Wings Series. I’ve also started a secret project, which was supposed to be a short story, but is quickly turning into a novella or novel. I also have a YA Post- Apocalyptic/zombie-ish project, A Children’s Fantasy (half-way done), and the sequel to In My Dreams. It’s very overwhelming at times, but I need to get these stories out. They’ve all been started, and all waiting for me to get to them. I really need a clone. Have they approved cloning yet?

What is your favorite thing about being a writer?
I love creating. I love when my characters take over and tell me what’s next. Sometimes I am just as surprised by the twists and turns and endings. It’s an exciting, amazing, exhilarating experience.

Do any specific people in your life inspire your characters?
All of my characters have characteristics of people I know, and I am around. I never really thought about it, but they all inspire me, either in a good or bad way.

How do you think up your stories? Do you use our world or your own? How much impact does the world/setting impact your story?
I usually have an idea, jot down a few notes, and I start writing. I don’t plot, and I found out that plotting does not work for me. I do take a lot of notes as I write, but the magic really happens as I write. I like to create my own worlds, but I have recently done research on a project that was totally impacted by the world situations. That was mind blowing.

When/if you have writer’s block, what techniques (if any) do you use to push yourself to write?
I’ve had writers block a few times, so I just walked away from it for a few days. When I returned, I put in some music helped to feed the scene, and it usually does the trick.

Who was your inspiration with writing?
My inspiration for In My Dreams was my mother-in-law. Cancer took her life too early, and too rapidly, that we were all left spinning. I told her I was going to start writing, and her last words to me were…Keep writing, Cam. Those words were embedded into my heart, and I haven’t stopped since.

Random question: If you could be any superhero—who would you be and why?
I would say Thor, but I wouldn’t want to be Thor - I’d want to be ((with)) Thor. LOL Does he have a superhero girlfriend? If not…then maybe Bat Girl. Christian Bale is pretty hot too. ;)
